USA Wins First Gold on Final Day as Competition Comes to a Close

Competition 31 October 2026

The final day of the World University Championship Shooting took place on October 31, featuring the Trap Mixed Team and 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team events, as athletes competed for the championship’s remaining medals.

In the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event, South Korea’s Kim Ju Ri and Joung Woo Jin took the lead from the second round and went on to claim gold. France’s Remy Rosier and Paula Oudot won silver, while Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Yen-Ching and Hsieh Hsiang-Chen took bronze. Chinese Taipei’s Yeh Ting-Wei and Lin Jou-Yu finished fourth.

Joung admitted that he was nervous during the competition but was delighted with the result. “I was very nervous, but winning the gold medal feels really good,” he said. Despite the pressure, he remained focused on his aim throughout the match. Kim, who had also won silver in the individual 10m Air Pistol event, said her strongest performance came in the final round.

In the Trap Mixed Team event, the United States’ Roman Barrett and Taylor Dale won gold, earning the country its first gold medal of the championship. Italy’s Francesco Di Mari and Gaia Ragazzini took silver, while Spain’s Daniel Fernandez de Vincente and Mar Molne Magrina claimed bronze.

Spain had been considered one of the favorites, particularly with Fernandez de Vincente having won gold in the men’s trap event the previous day and Molne Magrina being a world championship gold medalist ranked No. 8 in the world. However, the pair ultimately finished third.
