OH Sehee Wins South Korea’s First Individual Gold

Competition 29 October 2026

The third day of the World University Championship Shooting took place on October 29, featuring the men’s 10m Air Pistol, women’s 50m Rifle Three Positions, and Skeet Mixed Team events, with athletes competing for the final standings.

In the men’s 10m air pistol, Italy’s Luca Arrighi claimed gold with a steady performance. Chinese Taipei’s Ting-Wei Yeh took silver, while Poland’s Filip Wagner came from behind to secure bronze.

Arrighi had finished sixth in qualification but raised his level in the final. He said his success came from staying focused on what he needed to do and fully concentrating on the competition, without thinking about anything outside it. He added that the gold medal meant a great deal to him, as it was the result of months of hard work leading up to the event.

“The key to this success today was the good feeling that I had in the final. I was very calm, and I was very focused on what I had to do. My thinking was very close to my technique and to what I was feeling on the firing point,” Arrighi said.

In the women’s 10m air pistol event on October 28, Chinese Taipei’s Yen-Ching Cheng, ranked No. 20 in the world, claimed gold in her first international university-level competition. South Korea’s Kim Ju Ri and Kim Sujin won silver and bronze, respectively.

Cheng revealed that she had only recently returned from a World Cup event, so she competed without much additional training or preparation. “I just let things happen naturally and focused on smoothly following my routine and executing every shot properly,” she said, explaining that this was the key to her gold-medal performance.

In the women’s 50m rifle three positions, South Korea’s OH Sehee won gold and securing South Korea’s first individual gold medal at this event’s championship. France’s Louna Calonnec took silver, while Poland’s Maja Gawenda earned bronze.

OH credited her victory to daily training and maintaining a clear focus on the target throughout the competition. By keeping her mind on each shot, she was able to deliver a record-setting performance and bring South Korea its first individual gold of the event.

In the skeet mixed team event, Italy’s Francesco Bernardini and Giada Longhi won gold, Cyprus’ Markos Kontopoulos and Sotiroulla Christou took silver, and hosts Chinese Taipei’s Han-Tsun Wang and Yun-Jia Song claimed bronze.
